The Community Grants Program at Edmonton Community Foundation is supported by advisory committees whose volunteer members review requests for funding. Advisory committee members, who are approved by the Foundation’s Governance Committee, provide advice, suggestions and other feedback to inform the decisions made by the Board of Directors when they consider grant proposals at their quarterly meetings.
Advisory committee members strengthen the Foundation’s efforts to continually improve its granting skills while adding transparency and accountability to the granting process. They are encouraged to identify ideas from their sector for funding consideration and to bring their experience and expertise to the process of evaluating proposals from Edmonton’s charities.
With the help of these advisory committees, Edmonton Community Foundation is able to conduct relevant, effective and timely granting to meet our community’s needs. Committee members have an important role in shaping the strategic priorities of the Foundation and they advocate for both the Foundation and our city’s charities.
The Education and Learning Advisory Committee includes representatives from the provincial Department of Education, curriculum specialists, professional consultants and secondary and post-secondary educators and advisors.
