- All applications must address the information requested in the application form.
- All applications, including those sent by e-mail, must demonstrate appropriate signatures.
- Funded activities may be within any of the following sectors:
- Environment
- Arts, culture & heritage
- Social & community services
- Education & learning
- Recreation & leisure
- Health & wellness.
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate that the proposed activity will have benefit to Edmontonians and/or the Edmonton area.
- For the purpose of this program, youth are considered to be persons 13 to 22 years of age.
- To help Edmonton Community Foundation granting staff in their decisions, a youth advisory committee will review applications and provide feedback.
- To receive funding, applicants must partner with a registered Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) charity.
- The charity must be willing to accept the grant on behalf of the youth group – and must demonstrate this willingness by including a signature (on the application form) of an authorized person from the CRA agency.
- For junior and senior high school students, Edmonton Public or Edmonton Catholic School Boards may be willing to accept grants. A principal’s signature is required – please see the application form.
- For post-secondary institutions, a chief financial officer or a director of student services may be the appropriate signing authority.
- Some community leagues have CRA status, so they may agree to accept grants.
- Multi-year requests will not be considered.
- It is anticipated that the number of applications will be greater than the funds that are available to disburse. This means that the process is competitive and not all applications will be approved.
- Applications must adhere to the criteria set out in the application form.
- Funding will NOT be awarded for any projects, programs, or initiatives that
- involve direct religious activity
- involve partisan political activity
- benefit an individual (such as a scholarship)
- address deficit funding
- have already occurred
- involve funds being re-directed to activities beyond the Edmonton area (e.g. disaster relief in another country)
- At the conclusion of the project or activity, ECF would appreciate receiving a brief update about the initiative. This informal reporting may include:
- a brief narrative of the activities
- photos or videos
- notable successes or lessons learned
- plans for follow-up activities (if any)
- All approved grants – including the names of the charities and the names of the youth projects involved – will be listed in Edmonton Community Foundation’s publications (such as the annual report, web site, and newsletters).
For more information, and examples of previously funded YEP projects, please contact ECF staff at (780) 426-0015, grants@ecfoundation.org or visit the website at www.ecfoundation.org
