Initiatives

Edmonton Community Foundation (ECF) works with community partners to create solutions in a variety of sectors.

We are proud to collaborate with other community organizations that illustrate innovative, responsive approaches towards answering today’s challenges. Through these initiatives, we are setting the foundations for tomorrow’s growth.

  • Vital Signs® Edmonton
Vital Signs® is an annual check-up conducted by ECF in partnership with the Edmonton Social Planning Council. This initiative measures how our community is doing on specific topics compared to national averages. This project culminates in the release of ECF’s annual Vital Signs® Report. • Wills Week
Willpower Wills Week is a series of free presentations that help residents learn the value of creating and maintaining an up-to-date will. Every October, ECF partners with a dedicated team of volunteer estate lawyers to answer your questions about will and estate planning. Click here to learn more.
  • Social Enterprise Fund
The Social Enterprise Fund (SEF) offers patient debt financing to enterprises that work to deliver public benefit missions across Alberta. Any organization, whether it’s a non-profit or for-profit, needs capital to grow. Sometimes those organizations working to improve their communities have difficulty accessing traditional financing sources — and this is where SEF steps in. Click here to learn more about SEF.
  • Edmonton & Area Land Trust
Edmonton Area Land Trust (EALT) is a non-profit conservation organization dedicated to preserving vital natural areas in the Edmonton region. From wetlands to forests, EALT’s mission is to preserve essential habitats for wild species. They work to provide opportunities for people to learn about and connect with nature. • Strategic Granting Guide
The Strategic Granting Guide (SGG) connects ECF donors to timely and important projects in our community. SGG is a vetted list of current projects donors can support with their fund. Projects range in scope and focus, but each addresses an emerging need in the community, and are presented at a time when funding will have a tangible impact. Click here to learn more about SGG.

We have become a trusted source for both donors and charities. Our support helps donors looking for ways to provide long-term support for their community. We connect them to charities looking for financial assistance to help them continue their work. Our proactive role in community building helps us identify priority initiatives and opportunities that will strengthen our community.
