All it took for Maggie and Jim Neilson to establish a family fund in 1998 was \$1,000 and the realization that the money they invest in the Edmonton Community Foundation will contribute to our community in perpetuity.
The couple also see their family’s fund as a way to help their three children understand the importance of giving back to their community.
Jim served a three-year term on the Foundation’s Board of Directors, representing the Edmonton Bar Association. As Chair of the Foundation’s Distribution Committee, he gained an appreciation for the Foundation’s stewardship, commitment to our community and for its level of success.
