Donor Grants Associate

The Organization

As the largest non-governmental funder of the charitable sector in our City, ECF is in a unique position to address long-term, complex community needs by working with donors, charities, volunteers, government and community partners.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Donor Engagement, the Donor Grants Associate plays a key role in the coordination of the granting process for Donor Advised funds ($15 – 20 million per annum). This position is focused on stewardship and relationship development with existing endowment fund donors and supporting them in meeting their philanthropic objectives.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Understanding the philanthropic objectives of donors and providing granting options which meet those objectives.
  • Collaborating with the Granting Services team to appropriately communicate with donors in areas such as providing fund updates, disbursement of funds, requests for advice and communication of deadlines.
  • Processing Donor Advised and related grants, ensuring that grants are fully and accurately entered in ECF’s systems.
  • Ensuring all new/existing donor and grantee contacts are captured and up to date in the database.
  • Developing and generate regular and ad-hoc reports from Salesforce regarding status of donor advised and related funds.
  • Orienting new donors to the Donor Portal.
  • Maintaining timely, appropriate and exceptional donor communication, service and care.

The Ideal Candidate 

As the ideal candidate, you will have a related university degree combined with 3-5 years directly related work experience areas such as fund development, grant administration, donor stewardship or related roles; equivalent combinations of related post-secondary education and directly related work experience will be considered. Candidates who do not meet the educational and experience requirements may be considered at lower classification and salary. As the primary point of contact for Donor Advised funds, you are adept at cultivating and maintaining positive relationships and experiences with our diverse donors.

Additional requirements include:

  • Strong customer service skills combined with demonstrated stakeholder/ relationship management experience.
  • Superior ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Aptitude for technology with solid understanding and/or experience in the full use of databases and grant management systems (eg. data management, report generation).
  • Experience with Salesforce and/or Smart Simple is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • High degree of initiative and ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently with little supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally present information and respond to questions from diverse individuals and/or groups with differing needs.
  • Experience in a non-profit or charitable environment is an asset.

  • Salary Range: $61,000-$80,000/year
