Edmonton’s Black Community Fund
Edmonton’s Black Community Fund (EBCF) was set up to enhance the quality of life for the Black Community in the Greater Edmonton Area, with the hopes of building a future in which our community can thrive, grow and succeed.
In Feb 2021, Edmonton Community Foundation hosted a town hall meeting with leaders from several of Edmonton’s Black communities. Its purpose was to learn how the Foundation could play a role in providing long-term support. It was decided that establishing an endowment fund was the best approach to ensure community projects and issues would be addressed now and for generations to come.
Even before the official launch of the EBCF, an anonymous donor gifted $5,000 to kickstart the fund.
