The Organization

Edmonton Community Foundation (ECF) is committed to building a vibrant city and enriching the lives of all Edmontonians. We do this by providing an average of over $30 million in community grants and scholarships each year, thanks to the generous support of thousands of donors. As the largest funder of the charitable sector in our City, ECF is in a unique position to address long-term, complex community needs by working with donors, charities, volunteers, government and community partners.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Advisor is responsible for planning, executing and evaluating marketing strategies and plans to improve awareness of ECF, engage our target audiences and increase use of our programs and initiatives. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional project manager and be highly creative with excellent analytical skills.

Duties include:

  • Campaign planning and execution. Coordinate the development and implementation of marketing and communications campaigns across various channels including digital, print, social media, and events. Manage the production of marketing materials and ensure that all activities are executed within the defined timeline and budget;
  • Performance Evaluation. Monitor and evaluate the performance of campaigns using relevant metrics and KPIs. Use data-driven insights to optimize future campaigns and identify areas for improvement;
  • Interdepartmental collaboration. Work closely with cross-departmental teams such Philanthropy and Donor Engagement, Granting Services, Strategic Initiatives and Equity Advancement to ensure initiatives are integrated seamlessly with other business activities;
  • Serve as a marketing and communications expert. Provide advice to departments on best practices and creative ways to achieve strategic goals;
  • Lead corporate events. Plan and implement impactful events that support strategic initiatives and engage target audiences.
  • Staff mentorship. Support and provide direction to junior staff.
  • Content creation. Support communications activities by writing print and digital materials, newsletter and digital content;
  • Oversee external contractors. Work with graphic design, photography, videography partners;
  • Partnership management. Engage with event organizers to ensure the fulfillment of sponsorship benefits for sponsored initiatives, negotiate agreements and coordinate event activities.

The ECF office is located downtown. Free parking is available.

The Ideal Candidate

As the ideal candidate, you will have a university degree in a related field combined with a minimum of 3-5 years directly related work experience in marketing and communications; equivalent combinations of related post-secondary education and directly related work experience will be considered. You will have extensive experience in creating, executing and evaluating marketing campaigns that will help you elevate ECF’s brand and drive growth. In your work experience, you have demonstrated a strong understanding of various marketing and communications channels and techniques. You have also successfully managed projects with significant scope and impact.

Additional requirements include:

  • Thorough knowledge of current marketing and communications trends and
    directions;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with marketing technology such as
    email marketing platforms, content management systems, Google analytics,
    media monitoring;
  • Experience with search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM);
  • High degree of initiative and ability to work effectively as part of a team and
    independently with little supervision;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Committed to providing excellent customer service;
  • Superior organizational and workload prioritization skills;
  • Experience in a non-profit environment is an asset.

Please note a hybrid work arrangement may be available, however, it will be expected that the selected incumbent be on-site over the first three months as key relationships are established.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $66,000-$90,000 per year

Schedule: Monday to Friday (35 hours per week)
