When I turned 30 last year, my family and I decided to create a Family Fund with the Edmonton Community Foundation. Given my role in the not for profit sector in Edmonton and the current economic instability, I know how important it is to plan long term for organizations and the lasting impact that planned giving and endowment can have on building our community for generations to come.
I would not be the person I am today without the supports of my family and the community organizations, like Big Brothers Big Sisters, that provided me social, personal develop and education opportunities.
Therefore, we have decided to allocate money from this Fund in the future to two organizations that are dear to my family:
1) Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton & Area
2) Aga Khan Foundation Canada
*See below for details on both organizations*
In order to begin distributing funds to the above organization, I need to raise $10 000. My family and I are setting aside monthly donations into this fund but I thought I’d share this opportunity with you on the upcoming occasion of my 31st birthday next week. If you were planning on getting me any gifts for this occasion, please re-consider and instead, donate any amount to the Bhaloo Family Fund to help us reach our goal!
A gift to this fund would mean so much more to me than a present. And you get a tax receipt!
Thank you in advance for your gift on the occasion of my birthday!!
Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters ~ We are the amalgamation of two internationally recognized child serving organizations; Boys & Girls Clubs and Big Brothers Big Sisters. By combining the concepts of both, BGCBigs delivers programs that address the physical, emotional, academic and overall wellness of children and youth. BGCBigs provides safe places for kids to be after school and during school holidays through our 9 neighbourhood clubs and more than 20 additional group programs. With school and community partnerships, our goals is to ensure kids have access to supportive programming, meal provision and adult mentoring where they live and learn.
