Charmaine Letourneau Fund

The Charmaine Letourneau Fund was established at Edmonton Community Foundation (ECF) in 2002 to support post-secondary education for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Albertans. Each year, one student is selected to receive the Charmaine Letourneau Scholarship. Awards are based on financial need, involvement in local Deaf organizations, leadership in school or community, commitment to studies, and likelihood that completion of the program will result in employment or further educational opportunities.

An educator and advocate, Charmaine Letourneau received the Order of Canada in 2011 in recognition of her work in improving the quality of life for Deaf people. Ongoing donations from many individual contributors and community organizations continue to support the fund and honour a community leader.

Take this opportunity to help build the Charmaine Letourneau Fund and support Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in Alberta.

The Edmonton Community Foundation works with donors to establish endowments to support charities working to make Edmonton a better place. Donors contribute to permanent endowments which are invested to provide annual support to the causes or organizations supported by that fund.
