Michael Webber Fund
The Michael Webber Fund for Prostate Cancer Research was created by Michael as a reaction to a life altering event. He was admitted to the hospital for a relatively common surgery with the hopes of being home in a few days. Instead, he awoke to the news that the surgery was successful, but he had advanced prostate cancer. His journey began.
While still recovering, he felt the need to give back to the community that has provided care to him – both medical and psychosocial. And so, this fund was created. The intent of the fund is to support and/or undertake research regarding the cause, prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment of prostate cancer.
An indispensable part of the cancer journey is the assistance of organizations that support cancer patients and caregivers. To this end a portion of the fund will endow charities that provide support services, such as Wellspring Alberta.
One in six Canadian men are affected by prostrate cancer. This fund seeks to help them.
