Marketing & Communications Coordinator

As the largest non-governmental funder of the charitable sector in our City, ECF is in a unique position to address long-term, complex community needs by working with donors, charities, volunteers, government and community partners.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator plays a key role in managing our social media presence, writing compelling content, and co-producing The Well-Endowed Podcast. This role works closely with internal departments, freelancers, and other stakeholders to support the production and communication of engaging content that resonates with our target audiences.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Social Media Management:
    • In collaboration with the Marketing & Communications team, develop and implement social media strategies to increase engagement, reach, and brand awareness.
    • Create and curate content for various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
    • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions on social media channels.
    • Review social media metrics and performance data to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Content Creation & Curation:
    • Write compelling and engaging content for various digital platforms, including podcast, blog, and email newsletters in addition to social media channels.
    • Develop creative concepts and story ideas that align with business objectives.
    • Collaborate with internal departments to gather information, source stories, and identify key messages.
    • Ensure all content is accurate, consistent, and aligned with the foundation’s brand voice and messaging guidelines.
  • Podcast Co-production:
    • Work with a team of freelancers to produce original content for The Well-Endowed Podcast.
    • Coordinate the editorial process, including developing assignment notes, scriptwriting, script approvals, arranging interviews with guests and editing.
    • Develop and execute promotional strategies around each episode of the podcast.
    • Ensure that content production and promotion remain within the foundation’s allotted budget.
  • Marketing & Communications Support:
    • Coordinate the production of non-digital marketing materials (e.g. print).
    • Provide support for marketing events, webinars, and other promotional activities, including logistics coordination and attendee communications.

The Ideal Candidate 

As the ideal candidate, you will have a university degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field combined with 1-2 years directly related work experience in areas of marketing and communications including social media and content marketing; equivalent combinations of related post-secondary education and directly related work experience will be considered. Previous work experience with podcast production is an asset. Candidates who do not meet the educational and experience requirements may be considered at lower classification and salary.

You will have proven experience in managing social media accounts and implementing social media strategies. You will have excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to craft compelling and engaging content for various digital platforms.

Additional requirements include: 

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with podcast production processes, including scriptwriting, editing, and post-production.
  • High degree of initiative combined with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to communicate information and respond to comments/questions from diverse audiences using multiple mediums (e.g. social media, in-person) effectively and professionally.
  • Knowledge of audio and video production techniques, equipment and software is an asset.

What We Offer

  • Salary Range: $48,000-$65,000/year 
  • A 35-hour standard work week.
  • Downtown work location with free parking available.

  • A hybrid work environment where employees have the opportunity to collaborate on site a minimum of 3 days per week with the flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
