FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Edmonton, AB June 14, 2022:

Edmonton Community Foundation (ECF) is pleased to announce that Tina Thomas steps in as new CEO, effective August 2022.

“The Foundation has a long history of exceptional leadership that guides the important work we do in the community,” Monelle Sturko, ECF’s Board Chair, says. “We are thrilled to have Tina Thomas take the helm as we continue connecting donors to charities and causes that are important to them.”

Tina joins ECF after 13 years with the Edmonton Public Library (EPL) in her most recent role as EPL’s Executive Director of Customer Experience.

Tina was the leading champion and leader behind EPL’s award-winning rebranding project that helped transform the perception and use of EPL.

She is a 2018 American Library Association Spectrum Scholar. In 2013, she was named Capital Communicator of the Year by the International Association of Business Communicators, Edmonton Chapter. In 2011, she was honored as a Library Journal Mover and Shaker and one of the Top 40 under 40 by Avenue Magazine. She is an American Library Association Councilor at Large, member of the Canadian Federation of Library Associations Intellectual Freedom Committee and Board Member of the Edmonton Screen Industries Office.

As ECF prepares to enter a new chapter after the pandemic, Tina will lead the Foundation as it continues stewarding more than $747 million in endowment funds, providing more than $29 million in funding to Edmonton’s charitable sector in 2021.

“We are fortunate to have Tina bring her experience and skills to the table to help shape ECF as we look toward a bright future of strengthening Edmonton,” Sturko says.
