Belcourt Brosseau Métis Awards

Belcourt Brosseau Métis Awards (BBMAs) support Métis Albertans with awards up to $10,000 each year for post-secondary education.

Our Story

THE BBMAS WERE ESTABLISHED IN 2001 by the directors of the Canative Housing Corporation, Orval Belcourt, Dr. Herb Belcourt, and Georges Brosseau QC. Their vision was to help Métis Albertans realize self-sufficiency through post-secondary education and skills development.

Since 2001, the BBMAs have provided more than $7.9 million in over 2,000 awards to more than 1,300 Métis Albertans studying at institutions across Alberta. These awards are the largest non-governmental source of student funding for Métis students in Canada.

Support the BBMAs

We are so thankful for our many gracious donors and supporters.

Right now, the BBMAs are only able to support half of the Métis Albertans that apply. That means we are unable to support around 200 of the 400 applicants each year. With your support, we can bridge that gap.

You can support directly by donating to the Belcourt Brosseau Métis Awards Fund.
